I decided to look at a video on the teaching channel. First off, I love the teaching channel. This video was talking about how using technology in a science classroom for high school. I was interested in this topic because I am a science teacher though for elementary grades. The technology that was used were computers and google docs/ presentations. It was interesting to see that students were working together with technology in a science format. This project was focused on chemistry because this school is going to get their chemistry class cut for the following year.
The nature of this case was integrating technology usages into a science classroom. The goal was to introduce different subparts of chemistry due to the school cutting the program for the next year.
The students were asked to use google docs and google presentations to help collaborate together in groups. The teacher also encouraged the students to use other websites that the students are familiar with that will help get the point across for their presentation. Some sites students are familiar with is pinterest or flickr for visual cues.
Something new I enjoyed seeing in this video was that the students wont be learning about the basics of chemistry and since this teacher felt passionate to expose the students to chemistry, I thought she did it in such a great way. And I want to try and use google presentations to my 4/5 graders. I would definitely be able to use this lesson because I can relate to the content and ideas that the teacher shared. I give this case study 3/5.
