Welcome to Ms. TomSun's all about BYOD page.
What has inspired me to be pro-BYOD, well it all comes from my roots. I grew up going to a really great school district, and always wished to work in the same type of school district. As I grew older, I realized there is a need everywhere for teachers and I would like to work in a more urban school district. I made that dream happen, but I only call that step 1.
About Me:
I am a fresh new teacher from the credential program and I got my first job. During my leisure time, another teacher friend and I spent a day at the Sacramento State Fair and strolled through the "Science and Technology" exhibits. I figured, my assignment is to teach science the following school year so I proceeded to see what the fair had to offer. My jaws dropped when I saw the technology side of the exhibit. All of the projects had a familiar setting to me, and once I started to read the blurbs on the side of each project, my jaw dropped more closely to the ground. These projects came from MY high school! These state awarded computer science projects all came from my roots, my old stomping grounds and I couldn't have been more proud to see such a small population that I don't see anymore on a regular basis, make it to the big leagues of the state capital. This is why, I am here. This is why, technology integration in classrooms are important. This is why, I am so passionate about helping others integrate technology in their schools and classrooms all over! I call this phase, step 2.
I decided to enroll myself into the Innovative Learning Masters program at Touro University California. This was the same school I had received my California Credential previously that year. Not only has this program enlightened me more about my passion of integrating technology in the classroom, but gave me confidence in my own teaching practices.
