The art teacher is currently still in a credential program and since I just finished the credential program at TU, me and her are great support systems. Everyday, we both reflect on what went wrong and we bother laugh and giggle about our failed lessons. Or we laugh and cheer about the teachable moment WE had rather than a student.
It's nice to reflect with someone who understands the struggle of being a new teacher. I am happy I have her next to me.
However, the personal reflections I have on myself are much more critical. Why is that?
I was even being evaluated by another teacher for a "new teacher" evaluation and she was blown away and complimented me. But little does she know it was one of the worse lessons I have ever taught and I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable.
Also, I have the smartest students in the district and this is something I am told constantly but there is so much I can do with them and the SITE model that allows learners to connect to the content seems like a great visual for teachers to better understand the learning process and to keep in mind of those students who can benefit for approaches like this.
That's it for now.....
